About Climate Actually

I'm Dr. Kimberly Nicholas, a climate scientist at Lund University Centre for Sustainability Studies and author of the bestselling book Under the Sky We Make

In Climate Actually, we use facts, feelings, and action to face the climate crisis together and turn concern into solutions.

Climate Actually is a video podcast built around a scientific framework for high-impact climate action we published in 2021 (cited in IPCC's AR6 report), which identifies your five "climate superpowers" to effect powerful change, starting where you are.

This isn't another podcast with a bunch of climate experts talking past each other. It's a one-on-one coaching session between me and a real person taking real action that makes a real difference.

I translate the research behind why it matters, so you leave with something to actually do, not just something to worry about.

Every episode we go over science-backed actions you can start taking right away to make a meaningful difference within one of your climate superpowers: what you can do as a citizen, professional, investor, consumer, and role model.

It's not about doing everything; it's about focusing our limited time and effort where they matter most.

No ads, no sponsors, no one picking my questions. This podcast is supported by a science communication grant from Formas, the Swedish Research Council.

From my decades of research, I know that you have more power over this crisis than you think. I'm going to help you use it.

Executive producer: Darin Graham.

Every action on the show is drawn from SHIFT, the climate action guide I created in partnership with Project Drawdown — so if an episode gets you fired up, you can go put it into practice at jointheshift.earth.
